"The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper" - Phaedra Patrick
Initial Response: Charmingly Delightful!
First Sentence: "Each day Arthur got out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m. just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive." - Phaedra Patrick
From the Reader: I often wonder when I will be too old for adventures, I do know how ridiculous this is at 26 years old, but you cannot help where your brain wonders at times. This book took me on an adventure with 69 year old Arthur that kindly taught me that adventure has no age limits. I found it a touching novel that filled me with rich adventure, grief, and mindful discovery.
Best With: I paired this book with some exquisite oranges and non-photographed tea from a coffee shop, I always plan on using them in photos but finish them before I get home! It was a lovely Oolong from one of my favorite Minneapolis haunts.
Recommend to: Grandparents, travelers, sad souls, someone who relates to grief, fans of tigers, anyone needing a quick cozy read.
Ideal reading spot: With a morning coffee in a leather back chair! I could not find that exact placement personally but I can just tell it would be nice :)
Category: Absolutely rich in adventure, cheer and hope. Pure Sunlight it is!
On the Pages: A year after his wife's death, 69 year old Arthur finds a charm bracelet he has never seen before. He soon embarks on an adventure through several countries tracking down the origins of each charm, finding they all come from a chapter of his late wife's life. Discovering his wife's unknown past he starts a true journey of self discovery on the way.
Finale: Grief is a painful journey, if we open our hearts to it, hopefully we can heal along the way.
