"Wonder" - R.J. Palacio

"Wonder" - R.J. Palacio

Initial Response: Unforgettable

First Sentence: "I know I'm not an ordinary ten-year-old kid." - R.J. Palacio

From the Reader: Wow.wow.wow.wow. These are the words I feel best describe this book: extraordinary, momentous, important, notable, enduring, inspiring & lasting. The different characters narratives allowed me to feel extremely close to the story line, and I did not want the book to end. Sometimes I find myself whining about the most mundane problems of mine, a little perspective can go a long way and this story provided heaps for me to work with. I also find the story important since it captures the essence of bullying so well, we do not have time in this life for cruelty. However, while this book touches on some of societies weakest points it also made me laugh, smile and fall in love with the characters! An inspiring read and all should consider reading.

Best With: I found these wonderful StarWars shaped Teddy Grams (read the story and you will know why) and juice boxes. This story revolves around middle school so I went for the classics of my young life!

Exclamation: Always ensure your words are kind and your heart is open to the different.

Recommend to: The empathetic heart, children who have been subject to bullying, perhaps someone who has been one, all kind souls, the friend who needs some perspective and siblings

Ideal reading spot: You will read this book so quickly, I promise, so make sure your seat is comfortable, fluffy and soft. Maybe find a dog to cuddle with if available!

Category: Clear Skies. Although this book can be defined as a happy one, it touches on many points that need to be taken seriously. It allows us to better understand how society can be quick to judge, and even harsher to those who appear different. This book was all about perspective, I was able to see the story clearly, so clear skies will be perfect.

Reading Level: All should read / Middle school and up

Finale: Kindness, always choose kindness.
